The sixth day at ZHO (center of autism)

In the sixth day they had change our modes in volunteering on other words we used to volunteer in autism center by groups but the administration separated these groups to individual volunteering. They asked me which class would you like to put your 2 hours of volunteering in, I preferred to be at flowers department class with Dr.Mahmoud who taught me many things related to autism that I wasn’t even know about it. I took a special lesson with Dr.Mahmoud that is talking about (how to deal with the autism child when he is out of mode). There is a student called Ahmed who doesn’t like to behave at class sometimes, suddenly he starts screaming and I start shivering while Dr.Mahmoud asking him to raise his volume because he cant hear his screams until he kept silent. I immediately asked: Dr.Mahmoud, why you requested him to raise his voice while he is shouting? The autism child when he is cross means that there are potential energies inside his body that makes him an active child therefore the role of the teacher in such situation is to help the child to get rid of that energy. This illustrates my action with Ahmed. To me this is one of the best lessons from Dr. Mahmoud.
